About the Attorney
Christopher B. Payne
Trial attorney. San Antonio, Texas.
Chris Payne founded the Law Office of Christopher B. Payne, PLLC in 2013 to bring large-firm litigation discipline to a solo practice — a firm where the attorney named on the door is the attorney on the case.
From 2005 to 2013, Chris practiced with Greenberg Traurig, representing Fortune 500 companies and major financial institutions in commercial disputes, securities matters, and complex civil litigation. The rigor of that work — thorough case preparation, precise legal writing, disciplined trial presentation — anchors every matter the firm handles today.
Before entering private practice, Chris served as Committee Clerk for the Texas House Committee on Financial Institutions in 2005, and as a legislative aide beginning in 2003, where he worked directly on Texas medical malpractice reform. That legislative experience continues to inform the firm's medical malpractice and health-care liability practice.

Philosophy
"The client should be able to make an informed decision at every step. What does this motion cost, in dollars and in time? What does it likely accomplish? Litigation is expensive; it should be pursued only when it is the right tool. My job is to make that clear from the beginning — and then to prosecute the case as if it will be tried."
